I read in the FAQ that there is an issue for window to window pasting but is there also a problem with not being able to paste from the Mac clipboard into Inkscape.

If you open diferent inkscapes clipboard doesn´t work. You must open an Inkscape into another inkscape (new document). I´m tacking about win-version but it is possible that it will be the same in mac-version

The same trouble with me : under Windows, copy/paste via clipboard does not work. I was attempting to do that to use a file a component palette.

I've already tried to open the file from the current Inkscape instance -- I suppose this is what you meant talking about Inkscape in Inkscape -- but this is the same as opening the file from the explorer (two separated Inskscape instances which does not recieve anything from the clipboard)
