Compilation fails at gc 6.4+ needed

Postby midlandman » Sun Apr 28, 2013 2:55 am

I realize this is an issue concerning a non-inkscape library but it is necessary to compile the program. I am at a loss here any help appreciated.

Hello I am new to Inkscape, I have tried installing the program but I seem to run into blocks.

I downlaoded a 'SlackBuild' package and the source code.

I followed the instructions.

My problem is that after I run configure I receive the following output:

checking: gc.h usability... yes
checking: gc.h presence.. yes
checking: for GC_init in -lgc... yes
configur: error: libgc (the Boehm Conservative Collector) 6.4+, is needed to compile inkscape

I got my copy of gc from http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Hans_Boehm/gc

No specific 6.4+ existed on the listings, I tried 6.4 and 6.5 and I get the same results.

Using Slackware 13.37 i686 32 bit -- upgraded all packages yesterday.

I do not know what to do here now, perhaps you could help.

Hi, I'm not really familiar with Slackware (running Arch Linux here), but does sudo slackpkg file-search libgc give any results?
