3D text in inkscape

Postby irfanow » Thu Jan 24, 2013 8:53 pm

I have a tutorial for making 3D text in inkscape. To make it we use the interpolate tool. And I give a perspective effect.
Image

First we create a text :tool_text:
Then we create a box with a bezier curve tool :tool_pen: keep a perspective
Selection of both objects and choose Path - Object to path
Create perspective effects such as link here
After you create perspective text, right-click the text select the duplicate
Adjust the position of the second text to be easily used as a 3D
Selection of both objects and select Extensions - Generate from path - Interpolate
Interpolate steps 44
Interpolation method 2 then Apply

On my blog there is a link tutorial in English. Sorry if I blog in Indonesian.

Wow, that's an interesting technique and very effective! Especially where you interpolated the style (color).

If it was only the 3d effect I needed, and I didn't need the simulated gradient effect, created by interpolating the style, I would probably not use interpolation, because it tends to bloat the file size. If the interpolated text is the only content in the file, that shouldn't make any difference. But if it is only part of the entire content, you could run into trouble with a large file size. So just to keep that in minde. But otherwise, very nice technique :D
