Hello. I'm learning to use Inkscape and read Tavmjong Bah's PDF book. I wanted to try the new features in the upcoming 0.46 release so I set up Ubuntu Gutsy to update automatically. The problem is, the latest version is unusable for me because of a window bug. When I click on an icon or an item in the main menu, the document window title ("New document 1") keeps disappearing and reappearing at subsequent clicks. This repositions all the elements below the title and the end result is I can't click on anything with precision, e.g. when I try to click on the File menu I hit the new document icon that is positioned just below, etc. I'm using the Gnome desktop and a regular 1024 pixel LCD notebook. Moving the Gnome Applications-Places-System panel to the bottom of the screen makes no difference.
I searched the bug reports but haven't found anything - I may be using the wrong search terms as I'm not familiar with Inkscape terminology. Has anyone encountered this bug? If it has been discussed elsewhere, please point me in the right direction. I would rather not uninstall and go back to the previous version if there is a quick fix to this problem.
Many thanks,
Edith
Hm, I meant to post this in the Help with using Inkscape section. Too many open tabs in Firefox. Sorry.

Re: inkscape 0.46 window title problem
Thats not one I've heard of, if you cant find a bug report that refers to it, can you file one please? if its not in the tracker and none of the devs are experiencing it then its unlikely to be intentionally fixed any time soon
