I would like my board to measure in inch's I go to Properties change the setting to "in" and proceed.
Next new project I have to change it back to "in"
Any way to make it stay in inch's?

What is the latest version of inkscape and how do I know what I have?

Hi D'man,

The settings you refer to are part of the DOCUMENT.
So everytime you open a new document, it is reset to the default.
Fortunately, you can define your own default template, and that will solve your troubles. More info in the Inkscape Guide.
