Hey folks, good to see a forum like this exists. I've been involved in graphics for many years, but just recently began delving into the vector world. After a month of toying with Inkscape, I'm hooked. Currently I am working on an illustration of Spiderman and am always open to feedback. Below is what I've achieved so far. I'll update in this thread as I add more to this work.
Spidey - part 3 http://dphase.deviantart.com/art/Vector-Spidey-progress-pt3-69261616
Spidey - part 2 http://dphase.deviantart.com/art/Vector-Spidey-progress-pt2-69248979
Spidey - part 1 http://dphase.deviantart.com/art/Vector-Spidey-in-progress-69199820
Thanks in advance for potential feedback. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions regarding technique/style.

Re: In progress Spiderman vector
Welcome to the forum! This project looks like it is going well. The perspective looks off to me but that may pan out as it progresses. The eye lens looks great!

Began work on the web.
@Darth Gimp: Thanks for the feedback. I think the perspective looks slight off as well, though a lot of that may be to only having one eye drawn. I think this will smooth out once I add more highlights and shadows.

Ok - WOW! That is some impressive work so far. The shading around his jaw is especially well done. It's difficult to believe you haven't used a gradient mesh
I know this is still in progress, so it's probably not worth me saying anything yet, but I think some thickness to webbing would look nice. You could convert the stroke to object, union them, then use the tweak tool to fatten areas. You probably didn't need to be told that though
I can't wait to see how the drawing progresses from here.

Nice work that you are doing there dphase. I just have one question though how are you able to have two views of the same image?
Re: In progress Spiderman vector
That's a very useful feature, for example to tweak small objects you need to zoom in a lot to get better precision, but at the same time you need to keep an eye on the big picture...
View > Duplicate window
You can have different zoom levels or Display mode but whatever you change in one window will be automatically updated in the other

That is a feature that I will using more often. I do not like constantly zooming in and then zooming out to see the work. I like to work at the precision level, but always needed a way to be able to see what I was doing in the process. Thanks for the tip

I use outline mode a ton, especially on images like this that have a lot of objects with gradients. I definitely recommend using it when placing objects with lots of paths, ie, hair. You'll save a lot of frustration.
Haven't had the chance to work on Spidey that much lately, but I haven't abandoned. I'll update you all once more progress is made.
