Hi all,

i just detected a bug. If you already know it, plz delete this topic.

So, i do the following:

- Start Inkscape (0.47, and tested with inkscapeR9389-1004300032.7z, german version ).
- Open the following .pdf document (Cooporate design .pdf of our university) http://www.cd-ovgu.de/cms2/CD_OVGU_1-008.pdf
- Selecting page 9 and load it
-------------------------------------------
1. try
-> try to save as -> FREEZE
-------------------------------------------
2. try
- delete everything except the blue logo with the title "Otto von guericke university" and the text on the right "Fakultät für informatik"
- file -> document settings -> fit the selection and the size of the document (bad translation, sry... german version)
-> save (saved as pdf 1.4, worked!!)
-> save file as -> FREEZE
------------------------------------------

Can you reproduce it?

There's a Save As bug that I just read about in another topic. Let me try to find it, and I'll edit in the link to Launchpad.

Sorry, but bug #285267 is not [EDIT 2, thx brynn ;) ] unrelated to the issue described in this topic: bug #285267 is about the 'Save/Save as…' dialog window not appearing at all (most likely a conflict with some Windows XP theme settings outside of Inkscape), which prevents the user from saving a a (new) document.

The PDF issue here is most likely related to an encoding error (e.g. latin-1 <-> utf-8) happening when opening/importing a PDF file and saving it as SVG document. There are several similar reports in the bug tracker, but no easy fix known AFAICT.

Don't know if Hugie is still following this or not. I've just been trying to clear up so many unanswered topics that have been piling up over the last month or so. Most of them I'm guessing about, and wouldn't you know, the message where I don't give a "I'm not sure" disclaimer would turn up wrong. But we're only human, eh?

I could not reproduce this with Inkscape 0.47 and 0.47+devel r9405 on Mac OS X 10.5.8: the page loaded without error; I saved it as Inkscape SVG, later reopened the SVG file, deleted everything except the Informatik-Logo, resized the page and saved as a new SVG document. No error, no crash, no freeze.

Do you ever see the 'Save/Save as...' dialog when working with new documents and trying to save them? If not, Brynn was right and it is most likely the same issue as bug #285267. Else it could still be an encoding issue after PDF import limited to Inkscape on Windows platforms.

Sry for posting the same issue again -> Bryan was right.

I did not test the "Save as" on other documents, only this one.. (What a bad computer scientist....)

So, i do NOT see the "save as" dialogue on any files i open or create. I tried to "save as" some .svgs, and inkscape freezes again.

I hope, someone will find and fix it This issue is a bit annoying...

Additional Info:

It seems to be the "0-width dialogue size" bug. If inkscape is frozen and i press Esc, the focus returns to inkscape itself, and i can interact again.
