Dificulty in pdf-Inkscape-pdf

Postby Robert52 » Tue Nov 26, 2013 12:18 pm

A problem in the PDF produced using the current version on Inkscape caused me to try an older version and the problem went away. Before claiming there is a bug, it seams reasonable to ask for a sanity check. If it is a bug, some input on what is happening and how to describe it would be helpful.

Inkscape is being used to extract parts of manufacturers PDF documentation, add credits for where came from, resize the page. The resulting PDF then becomes part of project notes produced with pdfLaTeX.

A pdf from Inkscape had and-gate symbols with a vertical line. The and-gate had become a square with a semicircle. An older version of Inkscape did not produce the vertical line. Following the practice of providing a minimal example, links to svg and pdf files are provided.

The operating system is 64 bit Windows 7.

The first version was installed from inkscape-0.48.4-1-win32.exe

https://www.dropbox.com/s/x1yvqdvirnc5z39/a.svg

The older version was installed from inkscape-0.47-3-win32.zip
https://www.dropbox.com/s/8a08dauzlu0jn1p/b.pdf

Thank you for any insight,

Thanks for posting the version that seems to work. I have simply accepted the problem and avoided such.

I presume the AND-gate symbol came from a manufacturer's PDF?

I'd call it a bug. The example shown is probably descriptive enough for a report, but I'd also offer an original PDF to manipulate with both Inkscape versions, so developers can replicate the issue.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

I cannot see what is not working.
I could notice that the curved part is not maching exactly the rectangle, and, that there are three mysterious paths with only one nodes given, technically invisible on the left of the b.svg.

Here is a link to the original pdf page
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4rnuaxfomdhqzxn/pg17-18.pdf
It was extracted from Texas Instruments publication slau056l.

The files a.svg and b.svg both started by importing pg17-18.pdf. They differ in the version of Inkscape used. On both, the intention was to remove everything except for the body of the symbol. Being done by hand, it is likely that the results differ.

The problem is the vertical line separating the semicircle from the square in a.pdf

Known bug in certain versions of the Cairo graphics library used by Inkscape (e.g. for PDF/PS/EPS export), reported multiple times for inkscape already:

Thank you for information on the Cairo bug.
I consider this issue closed and will just use the older version of Inkscape where needed.
