Hi Friends,
This isn't a serious issue by any means, but is annoying me at the moment. It concerns those few dialogs which can be iconified, but not docked -- Document Properties, Fill/Stroke, Gradient. Every time I uniconify them, the position at which they appear is shifted slightly from where it was when I clicked Iconify. They always shift down and to the right. And after about 6 to 8 times uniconifying, it's shifted too far off the screen to use it, and I have to reposition it.
Does this happen to anyone else, or is it related to my 800 x 600 screen resolution?
I know the Gradient dialog is planned to be dropped. And the main reason I repetitively use the Doc Props is for the Snap settings. But I already know that snapping can be disabled altogether with the Shift key, starting with the next version (and now with the dev version) (in 0.46 it only disables node snapping, not node handles). So that really only leaves the Fill/Stroke dialog where this problem could be ongoing.
1 -- Can anything done about this shifting thing?
2 -- Why isn't the F/S dialog dockable anyway?
Thanks for any comments

With my resolution (1400 x something) on XP i experience the same for the Fill/Stroke Dialog.

i immediately thought? Fill/Stroke? but that's docked! Then i tried and it was docked, as i remembered. I tried to pull it , and it became a separate window, but now i cannot bring it to re-dock... *sniff*those few dialogs which can be iconified, but not docked -- Document Properties, Fill/Stroke,
Re: repeated uniconifying of non-dockable dialogs
Maybe I should say that I'm using 0.46, the last stable version.
Aw, I hope you can get it docked once again. And then hopefully I will learn how to dock it for myself.

Re: repeated uniconifying of non-dockable dialogs
Hey loonquawl, I figured out how to dock them. I suppose I must have somehow undocked them, somewhere along the way, although I surely don't remember.
Anyway, on the dialog window, there's a bar just beneath the titlebar. I'm not sure what to call it, but it says the name of the dialog -- in this case "Fill and Stroke". If you mouseover it, you'll get "the finger", then just click and drag to the docking area. Once you press the mouse button and start to drag, the finger turns into the 4-way arrows "Move" icon, while you're dragging. My screen did some sort of flashing as the dialog docked, but I minimized and restored, and all was fixed.
So yay! Problem solved for me. Can you get this to work, loonquawl?
