OK so I am new at this....graphic design that is. I have been trying to get t-shirts printed and have had estimates of rectreating my artwork in vector form and they are just too high.....So I have decided to start doing it myself. I am an artist and I know most artists nowadays know graphic design. So I guess im getting on the ball.
So yeah since I am use to drawing freehand so is Wacom's Bamboo tablet a good choice for me? or a Wacom Intuos ? its a bit pricey for me but im sure I could find it cheap on the net. I also have one computer on XP and the other has Vista which I would have, will Adobe Illustrator CS2 run fine?
I am considering getting Adobe Illustrator CS2 because of screen printers............
Will using Illustrator and a Wacom tablet work for what I am trying to do? ( transfer my freehand artwork into vector form for shirt printers)
Should I buy a Bamboo tablet???
Re: Should I buy a Bamboo tablet???
There's a post you can read here about the Bamboo - viewtopic.php" onclick="readonly();return false;"http://www.illustratorworld.com/forum/" class="postlink">Illustrator World forum.
I can appreciate that you may not want to use Inkscape in place of Illustrator simple because of industry standards. But if your drawings are simple enough they may convert from SVG to EPS or PDF quite nicely.

Oops, it seems I'm quite wrong about Illustrators support for tablets or maybe it was introduced in CS2 - http://www.adobepress.com/articles/arti ... 5&seqNum=6

No, IIRC it existed in CS
However, brush related tools don't seem to be developed further in both Illy and Corel DRAW

Re: Should I buy a Bamboo tablet???
I bought a Wacom Intuos 3 A6 Wide and it's wonderful. I'd suggest getting an Intous rather than a Bamboo because Intous are aimed at professionals, whereas bamboo are designed more for fun.
I do use it with Inkscape (particularly with the calligraphy tool) but I find I use it much more with non vector programs such as The GIMP (or photoshop if you're so inclined).

Re: Should I buy a Bamboo tablet???
So How do I convert my scanned image to my computer (raster form) into an EPS or SVG vector file?
Re: Should I buy a Bamboo tablet???
A Intuos tablet sounds good to me. Although I will probably have to wait a while before I can buy it.
Im also trying to figure out ways to optimize my computers so they will run smoother and not be loaded with crap.

Ctrl-I -> Select raster img. -> Shift-Alt-B -> Set appropriate settings -> Press OK.
Or you could read some of the nice tutorials. That would also answer a lot of your future questions...
