I have looked around the forum but can't find anything to help with this. My Inkscape (0.91, downloaded from Inkscape.org) has started misbehaving. When I click Save As the programme simply closes and nothing is saved. Otherwise it seems to be working normally. It doesn't seem to matter what size the file is, results are the same. It never used to do this and whilst I have changed my laptop recently the 'fault' only started sometime later, I think
My work around is to
• open a new document and start working on it
• Wait until the autosave document has been created and navigate to it having closed Inkscape
• Rename the document to what I want
• And then reopen it.
Thereafter I can save changes (either CTRL/S or Save) without problems. But I can't save the .svg file as .pdf or anything else.
The only other strange thing I have noticed is that when selecting two or more nodes on a path I now get the same small black handle arrows around that section of the path that I only previously got when using the Select And Transform Objects tool.
I am on Acer with Intel i7 processor, 16gb RAM and Windows 10.
Grateful for any help. Is this something I have done or is it a bug of some sort? And, please, no over-techie suggestions: I 'do' Inkscape (sort of) but not computers!
Inkscape closes on Save As and doesn't save
Re: Inkscape closes on Save As and doesn't save
For this part
You probably have "Show transformation handles for selected nodes" button engaged (Node tool control bar). Unclick that, and that problem will be solved.
So you click File menu > Save As and then the file just closes?
There was a problem with Save As in a previous version of Inkscape....I can't remember the details. But I'll try to find the bug report, and maybe find a clue.
Oh, say.... In Edit menu > Inkscape Preferences > Interface > Windows > Desktop Integration
do you have it set for Native Open/Save Dialogs, or GTK dialogs? Whichever one it is, try the other one. I really have no idea if that will help. But something to do while I search for the old bug.
Edit
I'm pretty sure the bug I'm thinking about was fixed, and since I can't find the report, could also indicate it was fixed. But if native vs GTK in Inks Prefs doesn't fix, I'm not sure what else to do. Maybe someone else will have an idea?

Re: Inkscape closes on Save As and doesn't save
Brynn,
You're a star. Fixed! It was set to GTK so I selected the Native radio button. Instantly all back to normal. I am fairly sure I didn't select the GTK anytime - I tend not to play with things I don't understand - but somehting selected it. I've played around with a few old and new files and they all seem OK. Saved one to .pdf too.
And you were right. Somehow I had the 'show transformation....' button selected, hence the handles.
Many, many thanks for reducing my blood pressure.
