Hi all
some of you may know I have been working on illustrations and content for a children's book using Inkscape. The book is all about paper hot air balloons and how to make them, and has around 380 Inkscape illustrations, all in B&W. Well publication is fast approaching, so I have uploaded some free stuff to a promotional website. If you are interested in work that combines Inkscape, Gimp and Scribus you should check out the pages about making a cross-stick base or a wire free wax cup.
I know it's a promotional website, but would it be OK to post a link to the free stuff page? The website has only been up for a day, so you cannot google for it yet.
Here's a picture from the free stuff :

Re: book samples
Sounds interesting! I'm looking forward to seeing the samples (I don't see the TIFF either)

Re: book samples
I've uploaded a jpg version of the picture and edited the link in the top posting. You may need to force your browser to refresh.
If you want to look at the scribus/gimp/inkscape stuff have a look at the bottom two PDF files on this page:

I'm off to check that all the images on the website are in jpg - thanks for the tip, guys!

Re: book samples
Oh wow, not just a paper hot air balloon, but apparently one that supplies its own hot air!
The only issue I see with the PDF docs, is that all the underscores seem to be bolded....or maybe have a darker black than the rest of the text. Very nice work

And a couple of balloons in the book are solar powered too!

Mmmm. I think it might be a screen thing. I see what you mean. It seems to get better as you zoom in (the underscores and letters seem to get a more similar "blackness"), but the effect never actually goes away. There is a similar weirdness to the bold text headings "Tools" and "Materials". At some zooms the upright parts of the letters look twice the thickness they should be. It might be some setting in the PDF generation - maybe I didn't embed the fonts properly so the display can't render the text properly. I don't know. I think it prints OK. PDFs are weird.
All laid out in Scribus BTW! It does work you know...
