How do I make this shape

Postby batata003 » Tue Mar 15, 2016 11:18 pm

Please check the image attached. I need to produce the red shape using the circle and the rectangle. How do I do that?

The quickest easiest but not most accurate way is to zoom in that portion till it fills the screen and use the paint bucket to fill the gap:

nice good idea! But as I see, in this case the remaining object (red) will have the area of the original object minus the width of their lines, correct? I really need precision in this, so how can I make this remaining object with exact difference of those shapes?

'Difference' with rectangle and circles, then 'Break apart' or delete nodes. (make sure everything is properly aligned)

Convert circle to path (Ctrl+Shift+C),
use the node tool -change tangent nodes cusp, delete unnecessary nodes, snap one node to the rectangle's corner, and set two segments linear.

I'd go with Esper's suggestion to use Difference.
