Formatting stroke & fill as per eyedropper?
I'd like to be able to quickly copy the stroke & fill from one object to another. I've figured out about using the eyedropped for gathering the stroke & fill data, but is it possible to assign that data to a newly selected object with just a click? Or, is it necessary to open the properties dialog from the first, try to remember all the nubers, open a dialog box for the second, and then type all those numbers in?

I don't think it's possible to do the stroke and fill both, in one click, using the eyedropper. But I think that's what Paste Style is for (Edit menu). Also, don't forget about Help menu > Manual (requires internet connection). Or without internet connection, try Help menu > Tutorials

It takes a keyboard shortcut (d) and two clicks:brynn wrote:I don't think it's possible to do the stroke and fill both, in one clickscruffyeagle wrote:I'd like to be able to quickly copy the stroke & fill from one object to another.
- switch to the dropper tool with d
- click (pick the color under the cursor & assign it to the fill of the current selection)
- Shift+click (pick the color under the cursor & assign it to the stroke of the current selection)

Re: Formatting stroke & fill as per eyedropper?
Byron & suv, thanks for your help. Messing around with the program after reading what you 2 wrote, I discovered there actually is a quick & easy way to copy both stroke & fill to format a new object without even using any special key combos or menu items. It works like this:
1) Click on the target object you want to format, to make it selected.
2) Switch to the eyedropper tool.
3) Click on the source object which has the stroke & fill format you want in the target object.
The stroke & fill information from the source object gets installed into the target object on the spot. What's great about this method, is if you don't like the target object looking like that and want to try formatting it as per some other object on screen, all you have to do is click on that other object and it instantly becomes the source object - and, that data gets pasted to format the target object. No intermediate steps are necessary.

/me wonders which magic version of Inkscape you are using that picks & assigns both the fill and the stroke color with the dropper tool in one click ;)scruffyeagle wrote:The stroke & fill information from the source object gets installed into the target object on the spot.
