Large space between text lines

After the large Inkscape update to version 0.92, I am facing the
problem which I have shown in the attachment.
On the left of the vertically placed resistor symbol, in the new version
there is a large space between R2 and 2k. I did this next to the situation which was in the older version.
Whatever I tried, I cannot correct this (properties etc. ?) to a somewhat narrower space.
What can I do to correct this?
Faced also other problems with for instance my default line width which is suddenly also changed but
I do not think there is a connection....

Thanks tylerdurden for your reply but,......
I do not understand a word of it.
I DID NOT CHANGE ANYTHING and AFTER that version update ALL my
schematic diagrams, when I want to change text, show this stupid space.
And I do not have the foggiest idea how to correct this!! :twisted:

The picture I attached shows the mouse pointer by the question mark and a tooltip... that question mark is a button that changes the spacing of the text. I would try that.

I'm using another version but when I opened your file that vertical space between lines was 10. In the picture above it is 25px. When I changed it to 1 the text was corrected.

I don't know why but the distance between lines are changed.

Thanks you all, but normally I do not have to change that spacing to the desired one
when I once have done that.
But now I have to do this every time when entering text to get a good result. Is there a default value that I can somewhere set?
And moreover,
when entering text (create and edit text objects :F8) I CANNOT navigate through that text anymore when using
those left/right arrow keys!!

Well, somehow I managed to set things as I had before.
I did not exactly know what caused my problems but both the spacing and that
navigating when using those arrow keys are working now.
God do I regret having updated Inskape without any second thoughts

Next time I will be very VERY cautious......

There's an extension that was created to fix line-heights in old Inkscape files: https://gitlab.com/su-v/inx-legacytext/tree/master
It's supposed to be included in 0.92.1...

Yes. I used the "Question mark" button , then set the font as the default. When I type new text (e.g. Erika Type), the linespacing is the same as the older linespacing.

Please note that the mentioned extension does not “solve” or address usage questions about text formatting in current Inkscape 0.92, and won't help with the new text object (AFAICT added with Inkscape 0.92) in the file initially shared by AnalogueMan.

After much tinkering, I cannot figure out how to get 0.92 line spacing to have a reasonable default. I do many clicks to set a piece of text back to what I think 0.91 had (say, 1.1* line height), I use the "set default" button, I set the "Style of New Objects" to "Last Used Style". When I exit and restart Inkscape and type text, it remembers the font, font-size, etc., but line spacing is roughly double-spaced (6.61mm on 9pt "Lexie Readable", to give one specific example).

Thanks, I didn't see that one (but now see others once I changed "spacing" to "height" in my searches). Looks like text is generally a pain point for 0.92.

Yes, there was a big change, and that has entailed lots of issues, that get solved bit by bit.

I believe that I found the solution. While I don't understand it fully, this worked for me.

You need to make sure you are adjusting the "Outer Style" of the text when you change the font size. To do this (1) click on the icon next to the font size drop down menu, so that the icon is highlighted;

(2) once the icon is highlighted, re-change the font size to your desired font size. This should fix your spacing for your small font.
