I have been trying Inkscape and just about everything so far is fairly intuitive and straight forward, however I am trying to "cut" a somewhat thick line at an angle and I just cannot figure out how to do it.It is driving me mad.I have tried to do this by creating a shape that has the same angle as the one I wish to cut from the line.I have tried placing this shape over my line selecting the two items and using the difference path to drop out the shape from the line.It will not work in this instance but I have managed to make this selection work for other shapes.....The results are almost never predictable whatever I try, there just doesn't seem to be an easy way to cut a line angled or not....at least to me anyway. The eraser also seems to perform with unpredictable results, though I know it is not the tool to use for my particular problem.
However...I feel sure that there is an easy way to accomplish this every time without trouble as it seems that this should be very easy.I would just love to know what it is.If anyone could let me know how this works please let me know I will be eternally grateful!
Thanks

Cutting a single line.
Re: Cutting a single line.
Inkscape does not miter the ends of lines.
You need to first convert the line to a filled object (path menu>stroke to path). Then you can switch to the and drag the appropriate corner to angle the end of the line.
I expect this will give you what you want; the line of course is a much more complicated object now.
you might get a usable effect by using a mask or a clip, that is to say, making the unwanted part of the line transparent. This keeps the line as a line, but introduces another level of complexity, especially when rendering the SVG in other programs...

Your mind is what you think it is.
