How to clone with auto incrementing number?

Postby user77 » Wed Jun 17, 2015 12:48 am

Hello,
is it possible in Inkscape to clone group containing text field with simple number that would automaticaly increment for every instance of the original group?

If I understand what you mean, I don't think it would be possible. Not on the canvas anyway. It might be possible to do that with some fancy scripts or something (all scripts are "fancy" to me -- but for all I know, it could be a simple script, for those who know scripts).

Clones in Inkscape are just like the definition of "clone". Inkscape can only make identical clones. To change the text would make it no longer a clone.

We might be able offer suggestions to accomplish your goal, if we know more about it. Please feel free to share, if you like :D

Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Thanks, at least its some kind of workaround. Although i had to add some invisible snap point for path so it could arrange in place.

Also thanks for quick reply.
