Replace object or path with another

Postby Marco » Sat Jul 16, 2016 7:26 am

Is there a way to replace an object or a path with another object or another path? With replace I mean a thing such the text function find/replace. I would like to replace the orange T-shirts with other in different colored stripes, so I can't just change the fill color. I have to replace them one by one or is there a faster method?

Thank you in advance

If you want to change the fill attributes only then you can try the
select same/fill color option, then set a new fill on the selected objects.

You can use custom swatch colours and use Ragnar's swatch replacement extension, but maybe it's too advanced (I don't use swatches personally that way).

You could draw those objects as clones of a parent object, and could edit the parent.
Similarly symbols can be used.

(There is also a rearrange option to replace one object with another but you have to select both objects, so doubt that would solve your problem.)

I find this option on base Inkscape release? Or in a extension?

That is in the align and distribute panel since 0.91 (Shift+Ctrl+A).
