Latest news for Intel Mac Tiger download?

Postby dcollins » Thu Jun 03, 2010 12:10 pm

The latest advice I can find on this board for downloading Inkscape for my Mac Intel Tiger machine is to use version 0.46. That's consistent with the fact that version 0.47 is still only offered for the Tiger PPC version on the current download page.

So how do I find version 0.46 for Mac Intel Tiger. I'd like to download it from Inkscape or Sourceforge but I don't know how to access download archives on either (if they exist).

Please advise.

From the 0.46 archive on sourceforge.net download Inkscape-0.46-3.TIGER.UNIVERSAL.dmg (Universal includes both binaries for PPC and i386 and runs on Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger PPC as well as Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger Intel)

Unfortunately no one volunteered to provide Tiger Intel packages for Inkscape 0.47 and the osx packagers building the version for (Snow)Leopard do not have access to a Tiger installation on an Intel Mac.

You could though use MacPorts to try compiling and installing the command-line version of Inkscape 0.47 yourself (if you feel comfortable working with the terminal).

Thanks. Exactly what I asked for.

I would volunteer to produce 0.47 .dmg for Tiger Intel Mac if I had the skill set. I'm no stranger to basic terminal commands. But me compiling and producing a releasable version to the general public??? (Picture Mickey as the Sourcerer's Apprentice in Fantasia !!!) Uh, uh!

I've now downloaded version 0.46 and it is nominally working. Thanks.

The powers that be can consider this one solved.
