sozi extras / load sound file ?

Postby stu7ink » Fri May 03, 2013 11:29 pm

I just installed sozi extension with Inkscape... works great, with one problem...
after adding a frame in the main sozi interface, Ive tried to use sozi extras... the
load audio file option... everything goes OK, but viewing the SVG file does not load
the specified audio... it cant be played by clicking anything in the file ?

Anyone using this feature who can suggest a step-by-step for getting audio to play ?

Im using Inkscape 4.8.4 and sozi 12.05-1

thanks for looking

I wasnt getting replies, so decided to mess with it... the sozi extras audio feature /does/ work...
it simply isnt obvious how :-)

Its necessary to actually move to a specified audio frame in the opened SVG for autoplay to function

note to developer: possibly add a "play frame #1 on start-up" option ?

Welcome to the Inkscape forum, stu7ink!

Now, I'm going to assume you mean the Sozi Inkscape plugin?

Let's see. The site says:
Sozi is a small program that can play animated presentations.

Unlike in most presentation applications, a Sozi document is not organized as a slideshow, but rather as a poster where the content of your presentation can be freely laid out. Playing such a presentation consists in a series of translations, zooms and rotations that allow to focus on the elements you want to show.

Sozi is based on open standards. It is free software distributed according to the terms of the GPL 3.0.

Sounds really interesting. I liked their embedded example at the webpage. Here are a few points that came to mind:

  • Sozi looks really cool. Thanks for bringing it up to us. Some of us will begin examining it, installing it, breaking it, fixing it and having a lot of fun with this extension. However, because Sozi is a 3rd party plug-in, we might be familiar with it, or like me: totally unaware 'till now. So please be patient with us if we can't fulfill your request just yet.
  • The latest release, according to the website, is version 12.09-27. Try replacing your version 12.05-1 with that one. Perhaps 12.09-27 fixes a number of problems including the sound issue. Make sure you follow these instructions from the site.
  • And in case that doesn't fix the problem—the Sozi site has this link: Report an issue or propose a feature. I'm not saying: "Shoo! Go away!" here. However, if you provide a very detailed account of what you did along with what went wrong, the developers can run some necessary tests.
I hope this helps. Let us know how Sozi works once you've updated it. :)
