I have been slowly learning gimp and finally started on inkscape.
I like the metallic gradients in gimp and the metallic effects and was wondering if this is possible in Inkscape.
I have some images I made in gimp that would look much better as vectors.

Its worth noting as well, you should be able to import gimp format gradients into inkscape.

I just checked - new Windows build (9.09.2007) allows drag and drop *.ggr files into Inkscape document, gradients are then on the list an you can select them.
BTW this version allows editing gradient on canvas - great feature! I wait impatiently for next stable version...
