Hello

I'm trying to use Inkscape to deal with various AI versions.

The importation fails, or at the best does not have any layer. So there's no way to work seriously with other people having CS...

Or I'm wrong ??

I don't know for sure (I'm not a developer) but when you open an AI file it's converted to SVG. I believe the tool that does that isn't specific to Inkscape and since SVG doesn't have layers, the layers aren't preserved.

If someone is doing truly serious work with other peoples AI files I would not use anything but Illustrator to do it with.
