Hi there,
i am having a rough drawing (Vector) which i need to reconstruct. Therefore i need to create on top of each pathline a new one, which needs to have its waypoints on identical positions like the underlying waypoints of the underlying draft.
Is there a way to arcive such an effect that while i am drawing the new curve, the new waypoints do snap to the existing ones of the draft?
Thanks for helping me out on this

[solved] Snap to existing points
Re: Snap to existing points
I don't think there is node-to-node snapping, sorry. You could simply duplicate the draft path though.

Doh,
thats too bad. Hmm, but your suggested idea could be a solution, if ...
Let me explain my issue a bit more in detail: I do have a cobination of lines from a 3d programm, which look combined like a half circle. What i need to do is to reconstruct that shape, going trough all the initial refference points and instead of beeing a collection of single lines with corners i need it to be one line with smoothh bending.
Any idea how to archive that?

Re: Snap to existing points
You could use "trace bitmap" but I don't think that is what you want. Other than that, the only way I know how is to hand craft it. If the shapes are consistent you could use tiling to make multiple copies of the semi-circles. If they are perfect circles you could use the circle tool and draw an open circle. I think I would have to see the image to give proper advise.

Hmmmm,
i could send you a file to look at, if you would take the time. Would be most apprechiated, if you do ...

Are you open to uploading it onto the web for us all to see?

What am I saying!? Why didn't anyone pull me up on this? Yes, you can snap nodes to nodes. In the document properties under the Snapping tab, tick the box beside "Snap to nodes".

Hi Microugly,
sorry for beeing so quiet the last few days, but i only have internet accsess on certain days. Thanks for digging up that answer, ironicaly i found it myself rather by accident. However, thaknks for your kind help.
