Customize Inkscape/Use unfinished tools

Postby -Crystal- » Mon May 25, 2015 2:45 am

Hi,

I am currently using a Inkscape derivative from a deviantart-user based on Inkscape 0.48
Now i am looking for some of the tools there in Inkscape 0.91

For me are the most important ones:
-Object Manager/List
-Inverse Clip
-some Interpolators for Power Strokes

If i can bring up some other tools that are currently under developing like the gradient mesh or diffusion curve tool, it would be even better.

I know these are tools that are not working perfect at the moment but for me a 90% working object manager is better than none. Same for the other tools.

Will be available in next major release (0.92) (if performance issues get resolved in time).
-Inverse Clip
Won't be available in Inkscape - there is no such feature in SVG 1.1 or SVG 2.
-some Interpolators for Power Strokes
AFAICT some of the interpolators had been ported from ponyscape to trunk (you might want to test a current unstable development snapshot build (if available for your OS/platform) to check this out). Features (e.g. modified or new path effects) which had been ported from ponyscape to Inkscape will be available in the next major release (0.92).

Rendering of mesh gradients is supported in Inkscape 0.91 and current unstable development snapshots if the build is using a sufficiently recent cairo version (>= 1.12).
The mesh gradient tool itself (not enabled in 0.91) to create and edit mesh gradients is not finished yet and quite unstable. I guess the tool might be enabled in next major release if considered sufficiently stable; and if Inkscape can provide a fallback rendering if documents are saved as SVG 1.1 (mesh gradients are part of SVG 2).

There is no 'diffusion curve' tool nor rendering support for these kinds of gradients in Inkscape, and AFAIK also not in the current draft for SVG 2.

… to be more specific: CubicBezierSmooth was ported to Inkscape (available in current unstable development builds, and in the next major release (0.92)).

Credits for porting several ponyscape features to Inkscape go to Liam P. White.

Thank you, Liam! (although I don't think he participates here)
