I've got a bit of an issue here, wondering if anyone else has experienced similar and knows of a workaround.
Basically, we are editing SVG files with Inkscape 0.48.5 on Windows, then rendering them on Ubuntu via the command line with the same version. With a few fonts (Arial, Franklin Gothic Demi Condensed), we're getting inconsistencies with the vertical alignment of text between the two platforms. Mac appears to render the same as Ubuntu, but windows (our primary editing platform) is the odd one out.
Here's an illustration of what's happening with Franklin Gothic Demi Condensed, left side is windows editor screengrab, right side is a render from ubuntu. Setting the line height to 1.0 makes no difference. Regular text stays in the same place, but flowed text drops down significantly.
Any help greatly appreciated. This is proving to be a bit of a major issue for us.

I'd try the new pre .91 release (on test equipment that doesn't clobber your current production equipment).
There are some bugfixes related to flowed text that might affect your issue: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1262782

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
