Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum, so if anyone knows whether this topic is already covered in some other thread please show me the way. So,.... to my problem... I am using Inkscape for quite some time know and so I showed it to my wife so that she can have try it out. Since we are living in Japan I have to use Japanese in my works pretty often, and everything works just fine (I use an ACER notebook with Windows 7), but my wife can not use Japanese characters with her MacBook although it was bought in Japan and running in Japanese. So she does her inkscaping on here MacBook, sends the files to my computer and edits the text there..... Does anyone know what is going on here? Is there a bug with the Apple version in combination with some Japanese language pack I do not know of? Any help is deeply appreciated! Thanx!
And by the way I love Inkscape!!!!
Write Japanese with MacBook
Re: Write Japanese with MacBook
Hi, welcome to the Inkscape forum!
What kind of input method are you using? On my Linux system I use UIM, which should work on a Mac as well. For Japanse input I use the Anthy package, but I don't know whether there is an equivalent package for Macs.
Note hat Inkscape has some strange behaviour regarding this input method — before choosing the eventual type (i.e. hiragana, katakana or kanji), the text appears in the upper left corner:
After confirming, it moves to the right place:
