Is there maybe an "official" up-to-date list of Inkscape extensions?
I am sure there are a lot of interesting and useful Inkscape extensions around which I haven't heard of.
You might learn about them if you have a specific questions or stumble across them reading other posts in this forum.
There is a nice compilation here:
https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/%3Dextension/?page=1
Recently, I learned about this one:

Another one was just attached to a forum post:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=18411#p69305
Some extensions are already included in Inkscape others not. What are the selection criteria? When does it make an extension to the Inkscape installation?
Has maybe anybody already taken the effort to create a comprehensive list of Inkscape extensions?
Kind of a link-list of extensions with a short description, usage, functions, limits, issues, ...?
Thank you for hints, links, ...

Re: "Official" list of Inkscape extensions?
There are many, the main gallery is the 'most official' - but note: none of them have been checked or are endorsed by the project, they are all user uploads:
https://inkscape.org/en/download/addons/
Then the Wiki has a couple of lists:
http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php ... Extensions (see text at top)
(Brynn and I and Mark Schafer have worked on this list, with the goal of contacting the authors of those extensions that work, and asking them to upload them to inkscape.org - we'd be glad to have some help )
And then you'll find many by doing a web search.
Extensions that are included with Inkscape must be:
- correctly licenced
- of good code quality
- translatable
- relevant for many users
- adding new functionality to Inkscape
- proposed for inclusion by someone
- accepted for inclusion by an interested developer

Re: "Official" list of Inkscape extensions?
Thank you @Moini for these links.
I didn't know the second link, it seems not to be linked from the first page.
Wow, an enormous number of extensions there and at the links therein!
Thank you all for putting this together.
I tried a few extension which sounded interesting, useful and promising to me.
However, I got a bit disillusioned since most of them did not give the expected results. Maybe also because of my untaught usage. I don't want to complain. These extensions are all well-intended and I can imagine that a lot of time was invested. Some seem to be somewhat unfinished and/or not developed/supported anymore...
I know: if you wish a special feature, either learn Python and do it yourself or convince an expert that it is interesting and worth doing it .

Re: "Official" list of Inkscape extensions?
The second link was meant to be more of a 'working list', just for ourselves, to get them onto the website later.
As for the issue with them not working as expected: They probably work as their author thought they should, or was able to make them work.
Many of them live on gitlab, and many files contain contact info for the author. The best approach, usually, would be to contact the original author in some way, because he or she knows most about how the code works.
As I have tested many of them, you can also ask here (for more detailed instructions, or very minor fixes - no promises, though.)

Re: "Official" list of Inkscape extensions?
Ah yes, we're well aware that a lot of those extensions don't work anymore, or may not work properly.
When I was doing the searching for all the known extensions, I wasn't able to test each one. But even if I could, it would only be results for my system and whichever version of Inkscape I was using at the time. And of course I couldn't test those which use special hardware (that I don't have), such as cutters/plotters or the EggBot hardware, for example.
You can see where this would be a huge job! I think the final count was something close to 300 extensions. It would take a team, really, to be able to test on all 3 supported systems, and with whatever various extra hardware might be needed. Not to mention testing with more than just the current version of Inkscape.
Mark is doing most of the testing, and contacting the authors (for getting them uploaded to the gallery). I think he's even trying to fix some of them. And Moini and I also are adding various comments, when we have occasion to test various extensions.
If you'd like to help, (or anyone else reading this) by testing extensions which don't have any comments, we can set you up with editing permission in the wiki. I don't know if Mark might like some help?? Or if it's just a small comment now and then, you could just tell me your test results, and I can add them.

Have you seen Mark around lately, Brynn? It seems I've missed something here...

No, I haven't heard anything since we started working on that list. It sounded like he was working on a few different extensions back then, but I haven't heard anything lately.
