Why the width-adjusted object instead of an image? A simple 512x512 or smaller image would probably be just as fine for a low-detail design (probably better, actually, as it looks strange on my 1920x1200 widescreen).

It's tiny (1726 bytes - about the size of 3 smilies).

Every website looks strange at full HD resolution (or higher). Since I got my full HD monitor I'm browsing in windowed mode with a width of about 1100px.
Just resize your browser window until everything fits on screen.
