I was wondering if its possible to create an isometric transformation. In case I created a map and I want to transform the areas to isometric by mouseover. I've added a small example of which i've already got.
Actually the area just lifts by mouseover, but I want it to look like an full isometric structure, cube for example.

Re: Isometric Animation
Welcome to InkscapeForum!
Inkscape cannot create animation. The animation part would have to come from another program. Or I think some kinds of animation can be achieved with a script alone.
So it would be a matter of drawing the individual "frames" of the animation, exporting, and animating somewhere else. Inkscape does have an isometric grid (axonomic), which is quite helpful in drawing things like that.
But I wonder if Blender (a 3D graphics program) might be a better choice for that project?

Re: Isometric Animation
So I might could achieve my aim by creating a sequence of isometric figures? Display each one of the figures in a certain time sequence? How could that be done, by a javascript?
Re: Isometric Animation
So it might be possible to achieve illusion of an growing object as isometric by creating a sequel of isometric object, low middel high. That the plane area as shown in my example rises to an isometric bulding?

I'm not absolutely positive, but I think so. I couldn't give you any particulars, it's just a general understanding that I have about that.
Or you could use another program to do the animation, such as The GIMP http://www.gimp.org/. Or there are several other programs which will do animations (maybe many). Maybe some other members could suggest some? I've only used GIMP.
(I think programs that do the animation, probably apply some sort of script template to the images you provide.)
I've heard about one which would work well with Inkscape or SVG, called Synfig http://www.synfig.org/cms/ but I have the impression that it's not quite ready for broad scale use. You can read more about it yourself, though. It's been over a year since I looked into it.

Yes, it could be made to appear to rise up out of the plane. Since I don't know exactly what you're doing, I'm not sure. If you did it in 2 steps, plane then isometric building, it would appear to just jump up, which was my original understanding of your project. But gradually growing up in stages might be pretty cool too. If you want it to just kind of jump up into a fully formed isometric projection, to my understanding, some sort of script might work. I'm not sure if a script would do more than 2 steps. Scripts are really outside of my skills.
Is this going to be on a webpage?

Re: Isometric Animation
I don't know how to do that with a script either. Iam not very into the javascript stuff.
It should look like this one here http://www.foerdepark.de/einkaufswelt/c ... an-3d.html

Found this in inkscape. http://uploads.inkscape-forum.de/2011/10/bewegung.jpg
Would be great to get this animated on mouseover

Re: Isometric Animation
Hhm, the foerdepark link you gave me doesn't show any image. It prompts me to install flash player, even though I already have it, and have it enabled. So that might be a clue about using javascript. But I wish I could see it. Oh! I just got Firefox the other day. Let me try that....
Ok, yes, that's exactly how I understood your original description.
Obviously that page does it with a script, probably javascript. And as I've said, I can't help with that. If it's going to be on a webpage, I know that animation could be used. But I don't think basic animation can be combined with a mouseover. With the type of animation that I know about, it would just go back and forth from plane to isometric projection back to plane, etc, etc. I think for the mouseover functionality, you would have to use a script.
I've never done that before, so I don't have any links to helpful websites or tutorials. And Inkscape certainly can't do that. Inkscape could draw the images, but not do the animation connected with mouseover.
But maybe another member might post a link to a website and/or tutorial? Meanwhile, if you searched for sites that teach you how to make webpages, you could probably find instructions.
I'm sorry I couldn't be more help
But good luck
