Inkscape performance improvment

Postby proximcreation » Wed Nov 06, 2013 8:40 pm

Hey,

I’m experiencing some really bad performance problem since a while.

First my configuration :
PC : Asus G74SX (12Go RAM NVidia 560M)
OS : Ubuntu 12.04
Inkscape -V : Inkscape 0.48+devel r (Nov 4 2013)

The problem is very simple : the display is laggy on zoom in and out... very laggy, even with a new SVG file containing a simple square. In any zoom level, the scroll work perfectly, even with big files.
Is this problem experienced by other ? Are there any hardware config somewhere in the Inkscape hidden preferences ? as GPU/CPU/RAM usage ? Memory allocation ?

I heard about the "path_rendering" nvidia plugin (which seems to be included in my current nvidia driver 304). Is it necessary to activate it or is it running by default ?

Help me ! I use Inkscape for my daily work, and I loose some precious time with this bug !

Thanks in advance.

Edit : I run a test with Inkscape 0.48.3.1 r9886 (Jan 29 2013), It works fine. I’m still interrested in a solution for the trunk devel version :)
