Just once, I want someone to ask for the hardest way to do something, lol!

Doesn't anyone want to learn anything? Is Help menu > Inkscape manual really so hard to do? With such a well written and comprehensive Guide (i.e. Help menu > Inkscape manual) what makes anyone think we forum members can explain things any better? And those tutorials in the Help menu? Oh my goodness, you can actually practice the lessons right there on the tutorial, because they are actually Inkscape documents! What could be easier?

Hasn't anyone ever wondered why I often write such long replies? I'm hoping it will scare the person who posted, into using the Help menu instead. Duh!

Instead of asking for the easiest way to do something, I think users should just ask us to do their projects for them! I mean, wouldn't that be so much more fun? Plus, I could personally learn so much more for myself, by learning to do things for those who want the easy way out.

Maybe I'll post a topic titled "The Easiest Way" where I'll offer to actually draw the things which users want to do in the easiest way. Other members could join me as well. And if we get more than one easy way to do something, we could post a poll, and vote on which was actually the easiest! Eventually we could collect all the easy projects, and maybe even publish a book on the Easiest Inkscape Techniques! Any proceeds could go to offset forum and hosting fees for micro. Well yeah, my dad always said I was too idealistic

But hey, I certainly don't mind stealing for myself the lessons that others don't want to learn. I am more than happy to learn how to do new things with Inkscape. It would only help me improve my skills, and become a better artist! (Or speaking for myself, an artist at all ) And for that I wouldn't even mind if something wasn't very easy to do

Tip: It's been my experience that messages asking for the easiest way to do something, actually get the easiest and least helpful replies. Those which ask for the "best" way to do something, usually get the best (and most) replies.

OMG, apparently Mr. Rooney passed away this week. I had no idea when I wrote this, so I hope it doesn't come across in bad taste. I had just seen news reports about his retirement, and that was kind of on my mind when I wrote this. My condolences to friends and family, and indeed the world

The black humor only adds to the impersonation I guess, and, those ideas are always relevant.
People need self-confidence to try out all options the program -or anything new- can offer, a cheering couple persuading there is no way to go wrong once moving along.

How could one make it easier?
If you cannot tell things, then sing them.
Maybe if there was a game you could go level up by learning how to use a tool, it would work.
Competitiveness at least invokes the willing to do something, and, by enhancing that, people ignorant to the manual might learn with no fustration.

There is a) the easy response (do the work for them), b) the best response (tell the how to do it) and the c) very-best response (tell how they can find out for themselves).

People who figure things out for themselves will be far better at their craft than people who are told how or have someone else do the work for them.

Will have to keep that in mind.

First, when someone with 2000 posts answers, I pay attention -- even when it's not my question.

Second, the first thing I do is Read The Fine Manual. As an electronic tech, I know the value of tech data.

Third, we all want to learn at our own pace. To RTFM is how we do it. Asking questions when we don't really know what we don't know is a waste of time.

Fourth, Inkscape has inspired an incredible range of tutorials, how-tos, step-by-step procedures, caveats, commentaries and anecdotes -- among other resources. I'm too busy reading to ask a question when that tantalizing hint is hovering in the back of my mind.

Finally, I apologize in advance. That prickly feeling on the back of your neck is me, watching and learning.
