Resize page to drawing leaves uneven white space

Postby eiger3970 » Thu Mar 30, 2017 8:01 pm

Hello, I would like to resize the canvas to the edges of my object.
This is my process: Inkscape 0.91 > File > Document Properties… > Resize page to content… > Resize page to drawing or selection.

How can I have the resized canvas right up to the edges of my object or have even edges or whitespace on the top, right, bottom and left?
Currently, the result is about 2 characters of whitespace on the left and right and about 10% of a character of whitespace on the top and bottom?

Hard to say without a sample file, so if you can share one that could help.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

To add a margin of whitespace, you can also add a margin in that dialog.

The uneven whitespace you can see is perhaps due to a filter area that extends beyond the visible part of your drawing, or some other, small object that you don't see. It will probably also be visible, if you select everything (Ctrl+A) and take a look at the selection box outline.

If you used filters (like blur, or something from the filters menu), you could use a clip to cut your drawing to the correct dimensions.
