Pyramids, cylinders and cones

Postby StopandGo80 » Tue Jan 18, 2011 3:00 am

Hello everybody!

I would like know if I can create pyramids, cylinders and cones only manually, or if there is a special extension that let me create them automatically.

Beside, I tried to make a cylinder by Extrude2 extensions (I drew two ellipses), but then it became a cube, not a cylinder :(

Thanks a lot for the reply!!

Bye bye :)

Hi StopandGo80,
Not that I know of, but there are a number of extensions around the web, which aren't in the Extensions menu. So you could try searching. (Although I don't find "Extrude2" in the menu either, so maybe you already have been searching?)

Another idea. I know I've seen shapes like this in draw feature of Word and OpenOffice Writer/ OO Draw. Maybe you could draw the shapes there and copy/paste or import to Inkscape?

I think that would make for a really nice extension though! One that could draw a wide variety of shapes and forms, maybe even volumetric stuff. Oh, that reminds me -- if you need them 3d, I wonder if Blender does this?

Sorry, I wish I could be more help

for cylinders and cones try the extrapolate extension. See heathenx's screencast of the pencil for tips on the cone.

Several solids can be modeled in extension 3d ployhedron (under render). Cylinders and cones can't (not polyhedra) and pyramids (tetrahedra) are not directly available but can be obtained by making an octahedron and deleting the unnecessary segments.
Your mind is what you think it is.
