Spellcheck language modules

Postby macmandes » Sat Feb 13, 2010 5:21 am

I'm looking for a a french Spellcheck module for the Inkscape portable for Windows. I found a place to get different modules via the Inkscape
help (http://aspell.net/). This doesn't have the module 0.60 which is the Aspell version of Inkscape portable I downloaded. I tried to install the 0.50 french Specllcheck module anyway and after I set the Spellcheck preferences, I tried using it and the Spellcheck doesn't work at all and crashes the program. Any ideas?

Hi,
I just tried to copy a Czech language from this file (using Inkscape 0.48): http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/aspell/dict/0index.html
I unpacked and copied all the files to \Inkscape\lib\aspell-0.60 and now I can select Czech for the spellchecker, but as you said, when trying to perform the spellcheck, I get grayed window and after freezing Inkscape crashes ... :o

Any advice would be helpful

hummm not that this helps much
if I have something I need to do some typing to I sometimes use a text editor like bluefish and then cut and past to inkscape

IMHO the text features in inkscape are much better these days but seem to still need some developing. If I have page I need to make up with lots of text I have been using scribus but still need to use libreoffice to compose long streams of text

I know, but currently I used Inkscape to compose some conference posters as I like playing with the graphics. I used libreoffice draw before, but I always had to prepare some parts in Inkscape as Draw has some limitations in this area. So I tried to replace Draw entirely and using Inkscape with Libre is not optimal but of course if there is no better solution...

Could it be crashing because it's a huge file?

Maybe, it was 50 MB poster, but there were only few text frames. I will try it again with some small file.
