Inkscape and Illustrator

Postby theprintbar » Wed Dec 07, 2011 9:32 pm

Hi guys can you compare Inkscape with Illustrator? We use Illustrator but was wanting to reccomend a program to people who do their design and send to us to print at http://www.theprintbar.com. Alot of the graphics we get for t shirts are low res bitmap and Inkscape is a vector based program right? Thanks :)

I guess you can say that Inkscape is the open source equivalent to Illustrator, although it's hard to compare precisely. We have a lot of users coming from well known commercial products like Illustrator and Corel Draw and a lot of them say they like Inkscape better :)

There's also a lot of people using Inkscape to design for cutters and stock vector services and what you do seems to fit perfectly with Inkscape capabilities as well.

btw welcome to the forum!

Hi there,

yes InkScaper can be used without any fee and Adobe Illustrator is paid one but what about starting your own online designer to get designs right from your own website? Thsi is what http://tshirtplus.com.au is doing. For rest of customers, the company can provide graphic services to convert graphics into vector images. :)
