Hi,

When I create a .pdf from a finished Inkscape document the borders around images that I cropped do not show up properly - they show up as uncropped. Is there a setting to fix this or do I have to do something else to make the cropped image show correctly in a .pdf?

Using clips will not work in PDF's. There is no magic bullet to work around this limitation. You simply have to try and create the same pic without using clips (or pattern fills).

Do you know if this will be fixed in the future? Also how else would you trim a border around a picture. I have an image on a white background that has been placed over a colored background. I will try posting an image example below, please note the image was taken from http://www.imagezoo.com with a watermark - I can not post a royalty free copy as that would violate my license.



As you can see from the image I need to trim around the hand and pda to get the green background to show up.

Forgot to mention. I am using inkscape version 0.46 and I have also tried printing to cutepdf with the same results, clipping is not transferred.

I had the same issue same weeks ago and solved it by removing the unwanted areas with GIMP and saving the image as an PNG file with alpha transparency.

Yeah, if you're working with Bitmaps, just use GIMP. There's no real reason to use Inkscape in this situation.
