Black border around images w/ pdf

Okay - maybe I made a booboo as I'm a noob.

I was editing FROM a PDF in inkscape.

I got the images the way I wanted them and at first, there was thin gray border around my smaller images, so I used the boolean brush for a white border, removed the thin gray line, duplicated the image and it LOOKED good in svg. Fast forward I saved as a pdf and when I opened it, all my images now have black shading.

What did I do wrong? How can I correct?

Question 2: Is there a way I can PREVIEW the image as pdf without saving as a pdf, opening it, and then going back to inkscape? I'd love to be able to QUICKLY see if it will convert the way I see it in Inkscape. I don't care if it's in pdf format to VIEW, I just want to be able to see what it WILL look like once converted.

Thanks!

2nd link shows:

"The file you’re looking for has been moved or deleted.
Please see this article for details on why a shared link might stop working."

There's really no need to preview an image how it looks as PDF. Unless you've run into a bug (and there are a couple, currently) the image will look just the same in PDF.

Sometimes images look different when you view them different PDF viewers, because the viewers might lack support for certain elements in the image. But it doesn't mean there's necessarily anything wrong with the image.

When we can see the PDF that you want to show us, we will be better able to narrow down the problem.
