I just installed Inkscape 0.48pre1 version for Windows, and I think it looks
pretty nice. I like the Spray tool because it seems pretty fun to use, I'm
already thinking in use it for creating nice backgrounds like a space with a lot
of random stars. I also noticed the new layout organization in where two of the
main toolbars (the commands bar and snap control bar) are now located at the
right for default.
What I don't like that much is when you click an object like a rectangle, because
a "hand" similar at the one that appears in adobe reader, indicates when you are
over the object (with the mouse), or when you drag the object (just like adobe
reader, the hand actually seems like is dragging the page). What I don't like is
not the hand, but the hand design, because the icon seems like it only haves 4
fingers, so it don't seems pretty natural to me, is like an E.T. hand
Are you played with Inkscape 0.48? Do you like the new features?

Time to upgrade: the hand does have 5 fingers in the (just released) final version of Inkscape 0.48!

You can choose between 3 different arrangements:
- 'View > Default': Snap Controls Bar vertical at the right edge of the window.
- 'View > Custom': like in 0.47 (all three bars horizontal at the top of the window).
- 'View > Wide' : for wide screen resolutions and netbooks: Tool Controls Bar horizontal at the top of the window, Commands Bar and Snap Controls Bar vertical at the right edge of the window.
Re: Inkscape 0.48
CMYK ?
Did I just read CMYK ? O_o'
As I understand it, CMYK and ICC are not completely implemented, yet. Still, it sounds like an impressive improvement.
OMG... I've always considered Inkscape as one of the best piece of software out of the opensource world, but this just blew my mind away.
I mean, I like the way the soft has developed. Rational and smart choices. I'0.48 release. Amazing work in just a few month.
But CMYK ? We all know what that means, right ? This definitely would send inkscape up a completely new level. Definitely a major stepstone in opensource history.
Can't wait to try the new tools. I'm just waiting for it to be in the Ubuntu rep. as i'm a lazy b****rd.
With all due respect to the team. Wish I could one day thank you enough.

Re: Inkscape 0.48
Thanks a lot ~suv!! I just installed the final release of Inkscape 0.48 and is working wonderfully in Windows 7 (64 bit) and the E.T. hand has been fixed! now it looks nice. Also the new GUI arrangements make a lot of sense of the available space in the screen.
Thanks Inkscape team, we just have another cool release!
