Hello
I am trying to do may logo in Inkscape. My logo needs to have knitted stitches inside the letters. I am using scribus 1.4.6 and Inkscape 0.91. I want to keep the logo in a vector format so it can be upsized or downsized in the document.
Please forgive if I do not use the précise command name as I am using a french version.
I use the clone pavement function to create the pavement and I add a filled rectangle in the background.

I then need to fill the letters .

If I use the pattern function (number 8 in the object menu), there is a gap in the result not only in INKSCAPE but also in scribus and open office.
If I use the crop (6th line in the object menu) the result is perfect in Inscape. but I get either nothing or the pavement in scribus and open office.

Any help would be very welcomed.

Regarding the gap you see with the pattern, it sounds like you might need to adjust the pattern. Select the new pattern with Selection tool, then switch to the Node tool. That will cause the Pattern handles to show up.

The pattern handles are a tiny X, tiny square and tiny circle. Sometimes you can find the X handle precisely on the upper-left corner of the page border. If the page border isn't showing, you can reveal in Document Properties > Page tab at the bottom. However, often with custom patterns, as you're creating, the pattern handles will be on top of the original object (the one you converted to pattern witih Object menu).

You can grab the X handle with the Node tool, and drag it around until it fits the object without any gaps. The square handle can adjust the size of the pattern and/or proportions of the pattern. To keep the proper proportions, be sure to hold the Ctrl key, while you drag the square handle. The tiny circle handle rotates the pattern.

Regarding Tiled Clones (which is what I think you called "Clone Pavement"), it might be because of the clones, that it doesn't show up in Open Office and Scribus. After you finish with the Tiled Clones, do this:

-- select all
-- Edit menu > Clones > Unlink Clone

Thank you for your answer. I tried to unlink clones. It does not help.
As for the pattern, I do move the pattern with the pattern handles so the gap does not show in Inkscape. But it shows in scribus and in openoffice!...And as my logo will be used in Open office and scribus and screen application it does not help.

I never worked with Scribus before so i dont know what kind of vector files are supported.

Whatever i tried, Scribus gave me an alert that some of the elements dont get supported.
I tried unlinking clones, ungrouping and converting everything into a path without any clipping by redrawing the logo.
So im really wondering what part of my svg is unsupported...

I read on some of the forums about scribus that sometimes this warning can be ignored. As a matter of fact, it does work most of the time.
