Hi!
I am using Inkscape 0.91 running under Windows 7 Pro (64-bit).
Does it make a difference whether I open a plain SVG file created by another program or I import the file?
Thank you!

Open vs. Import
Re: Open vs. Import
Opening the file would initiate new Inkscape instance (since there are no tabs), containing only the content of that file.
Importing the file would add it to the already opened Inkscape, thus adding the content to the already existing/opened file.
Sounds similar but you may not drag & drop and open the file while importing is allowed trough drag & drop to the already opened file.

Re: Open vs. Import
The difference will be about the page size, any guides and layers, grids, guide colors, document units or other settings specific to the file that you are opening. If you import, those are taken from the file you import into; if you open, those settings are taken from the file you open.
