Hi! This is my first post in this forum. I hope I have selected the correct place for my question.
It's a couple of week since I last used Inkscape. Now it's not working! I can start Inkscape and according to the taskmanager it's running, but nothing is visible on the screen! I use WIndows 8.1.
What could be wrong? I have almost the same problem with GIMP. While loading after a few seconds it's not responing at all! All other programs are OK.
I have tried to uninstall and install, but still the same problem! Help is preciated! Thanks!
Inkscape is running but not visible!
Re: Inkscape is running but not visible!
Do you see Inkscape on the taskbar? Maybe it's minimized? Have you tried clicking on the Inkscape icon in the task bar, to maximize it?
If so, but still no Inkscape, then possibly the window has somehow been moved outside the screen area. I looked this up for someone else recently, although their problem was slightly different. Try this:
1 -- Close Inkscape, if the Task Manager says it's open
2 -- Start Inkscape (wait a minute, to make sure it's all the way open, and don't do anything else while you wait)
3 -- Press Windows key, and without releasing it, press the Up Arrow key once (now Inkscape should be showing as maximized)
4 -- Grab the titlebar and drag a little (this will make the Inkscape window smaller, by a lot or a little, but by dragging it, should make Inkscape now in the screen area, and now you can maximize it, and it should open in the screen area from now on)
However, I really have no way of knowing if this is the problem. But if it is, those steps should fix it.

Re: Inkscape is running but not visible!
Thanks, but that did not help Any thing else I can try?
EDIT: Or perhaps it did!? Suddenly after a while the window just opened! And I have closed it and start it again and it's there. Hopefully it will work next time after I have turned off/on the computer.
Thanks!
Now I have to solve why Gimp won't work!

If you're opening a very large file, it might take Inkscape longer than usual to open.
