I imported a bitmap and did a trace on it. I then looked at the stroke width and saw it was set at 2.8mm so I reduced it to 0mm which reduced the size, however, the width of the stroke is two times larger than I need it. How do I make it even thinner? I don't understand why it couldn't be made even thinner, since it seems like it obviously could.
I tried making the image twice as large, but it seems the stroke width just doubled along with it. I was hoping that it would stay the same, so then I could shrink it by half in my CAD program, which would get the necessary width in my CAD program.
Is there a way to export it to Illustrator, and would it be possible to make it even thinner in Illustrator (And then reimport it into Inkscape to export to my CAD program).
How to make stroke width really thin? Not thin enough.

Hi.
Probably related:

It is about potrace vs. autotrace, there are some topics on it.
Maybe check this too.

Thanks! I'll take a look. Hoping someone has experience in this department, because I get the feeling it's going to get technical, lol.
Re: How to make stroke width really thin? Not thin enough.
Doh, why don't I just make the input BMP have lines twice as thin? Then again, I'm already at 5 pixels wide - 2.5 pixels sounds a bit hard to achieve. Well, I suppose I could do 2 pixels wide and then increase the stroke width in inkscape as necessary. It seems Inkscape has little issue increasing the stroke width, I think?
I'll try it out.

Maybe it's because I'm not feeling well today.... But if you reduced the stroke width to zero, it's not 2 times larger than anything, and it's impossible to make it thinner. A stroke with zero width essentially doesn't exist.

Plus, when you use Trace Bitmap, it does not produce strokes. It only produces filled paths with no stroke.... Oh, well that's not entirely correct. Technically they do have strokes, but they are Unset. And they have zero width.
I'm thinking maybe you traced some lines, or possibly text, and you want to make that thinner. But you can't. You can only make them thinner in the original image, and then trace again.
Or did you use a different trace engine from Trace Bitmap, or maybe you mean that you traced it "by hand" like with Pen or Pencil tool? But still, a zero width stroke can't get any smaller.
I have a feeling you may have used some terminology that's confusing....at least to me it's confusing. Anyway, once we understand the situation, we might be able to solve the problem.
