My first attempt at using inkscape for realism

this is a kernel of corn (icon size), I still don't know how to give it that glossy look that dried kernels of corn have nor prominent highlights, I welcome any feedback on it.

Nice work ! looking forward to the finished korn too ! For the prominent highlights, you could use white blurred forms that appear like a reflection of a lightsource.

Hey Pipo do you know of any tutorials or any web pages that can achieve that lighting effect that you mention?

sorry to respond so late. I think the most important thing is to have a look on your korn and see what part are brighter. Perhaps could this turial be helpful : http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm
