when I select an object, choose "Copy" from the Edit Menu, then choose Paste In Place, the object is pasted, not in place, but any old where..same as if I'd selected Paste..

anyone else?

Bug?…or a feature I do not understand?

• Does it happen with all types of objects (or is it related to types like clones/linked offset or 3dboxes)?
• Does it happen in a new document from the default template (i.e. without having resized the page or changed its orientation)?
• Are you really using the menu item, or instead only tried with the keyboard shortcut 'Ctrl+Alt+V' on a Mac without having enabled the 'Alt' key as described in the FAQ [1]?

It would be helpful to further investigate if you could attach a sample file with an object that incorrectly pastes when you use 'Edit > Paste in Place' on your system. There are known issues which could explain the behavior for some object types under certain circumstances.

When using 'Edit > Paste style'? There is a report about the position of the gradient not being adapted to the new object (controversially discussed IIRC).

Known issue, not easily fixable.

[1] depending on X11/Xquartz version you are using, there is a simpler way than described in the FAQ.
