How do I change the default 'Save as type' selection.
In Inkscape I need to open and save a whole lot of SVG files that were created in another SVG editor. I need to save them as Optimized SVG. The default Save as type is Inkscape SVG, which is 1st in the drop-down list. But I'd like to do this without having to chose Save as->Save as type-> and look in that drop-down list to find and click on Optimized SVG every time.
How can I move optimized SVG to the top of that drop-down list so it is the default selection?
How do I change the default 'Save as type' selection.
Re: How do I change the default 'Save as type' selection.
Here at least under MacOSX Inkscape remembers the last saved option - but will ask when you overwrite the existing file - you try to replace it.

If this is about converting a batch of files, you might like to use the commandline for this, to get it done quickly.
I wasn't able to find the extension that does optimizing available for Inkscape's command line options, though (I believe it should have been available as org.inkscape.output.scour - but wasn't in the verb list for some reason).
But: The extension that does the saving in Inkscape (yes, it is an extension, even if it works from the save dialog) uses scour, which is a python program that does the actual cleanup.
Scour is available as a standalone program: http://codedread.com/scour/ - so if there are lots of files you want to optimize, this would be a fast way to do it.

Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!

I am needing help with this as well.. I save my files as dxf14 and need to do so on all of them i create is there a way to make this change invthe default side of things?
Re: How do I change the default 'Save as type' selection.
So you mean when you click Save As, you want DXF to always be the Save as Type value?
Unless you mean for a batch kind of job, as Moini suggested above, there's no way to do that.
I suppose, if you wanted it bad enough, for a new feature request, there might be a way for the Save As Type field to automatically offer the last format/extension that was saved. So that once you save one DXF file, then next time you go to Save As, it will offer DXF. However, I'm not a programmer and I have no idea if that's possible. It seems reasonable, but I really don't know.
If you wanted it bad enough, you could ask developers on the mailing list or IRC channel, if it's possible. https://inkscape.org/en/community/mailing-lists/

But even if it is, and you submit a feature request, who knows how long before a developer decides to do the work. (That's why I say "if you wanted it bad enough )
