Rasterised filter effects cut off before bleed in PDF export

Postby bilky asko » Tue Apr 12, 2016 12:18 pm

Hi, long-time user, first-time enquirer, etc.

I have exported a file of mine as a PDF, and I noticed that the rasterised filter effects are cut off before the bleed is reached.

I have searched through the settings to see if there is a way to prevent this, but I haven't been able to find anything, and searching these forums with all the relevant keywords I can think of has thrown up nothing.

The way I understand exported PDFs working in Inkscape is that the bleed setting achieves exactly the same as adding the equivalent amount to the page size before exporting. Would I be better just exporting the whole drawing, with the appropriate printing marks, and sending that to the printing company? Or is there a way to ensure the rasters appear in the PDF up to the edge of the bleed area? I am working on the assumption that even a cheapo online-only printer wouldn't shrink the document and include the printing marks in the resulting flyer.

Many thanks for reading my message.

EDIT: I am using Inkscape 0.91 r13725

Hi.

I would try exporting the filtered objects and importing back/create a raster copy by Alt+B at a set resolution in the preferences to fit with the needs.

Well, it adds quite a bit of time to the overall exporting time, but it worked - thank you very much (my guess at a method didn't work as the rendering of filtered objects as bitmaps appears to be directly linked to the page size and not the export area).
