When I select "rect4318" or "rect4318-6" in XML Editor, the whole drawing shuts down and I have to reopen it again. I don't know what it is because I can't select it, and I can't delete it because I can't select it.
INK crash/close on XML node select
Re: INK crash/close on XML node select
Strange. Upload the file somewhere so that we can check/fix it.
Or open the file with a text editor and remove it.

DOH. I'm so used to INK's XML Editor I forgot about a simple text edit.
Here is the file in case it's a INK bug.

Re: INK crash/close on XML node select
Works normally for me with Inkscape 0.91, 64bit on Linux Mint 18.1. I don't remember your configuration, Old Grey. The file says it was created with 0.91.
The difference to (most of) the other objects seems to be the gradient. Only found a single report for 'crash XML gradient' and that didn't look like it was the same. Maybe really worth a bug report...?

Re: INK crash/close on XML node select
Something wrong with the gradient. If the stroke/fill edit panel is open, Inkscape will crash.
However, if the object fill is changed to a stock palette color before opening the stroke/fill panel, no problemo.
It should be noted that this file probably originated in the fritzing program, as indicated by the "gorn" attribute.

Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

Adding that the problem gradients seem to have no stops, and that may crash the GUI.

Re: INK crash/close on XML node select
I've got Transform, Export PNG, Fill and Stroke, and text panels open all the time, so no wonder it always happens.
I think that was originally done in Illustrator, or some other free at the time program that uses a dark background. One of the views has white lines so I know the original program had a dark background - they used white lines on dark - so and we have to convert them to black lines because INK uses a white background. The story goes that the other program was changed to not free, so we switched to INK.
The way it goes it that you make the svg and import it into Fritzing, and I think FZ changes some stuff to be compatible, either that or the export adds stuff.

You can set a background color in the document properties, Old Grey. The open dialog explains why it didn't happen for me.

Re: INK crash/close on XML node select
Is this a fault that INK should be able to handle, or is it just a svg thing, ie should this be reported as a bug.
Re: INK crash/close on XML node select
It doesn't crash in a preview version for 0.92, Old Grey. So it's fixed already

Re: INK crash/close on XML node select
Great.
Looks like I'll have to try the preview because the node doubling in XML Editor in the other post is a PITA and I would like that fixed
