Hi I am using OS 10.4.11, Inkscape .45. I downloaded the latest build for 10.4.11 which is Inkscape-16573-i386.dmg. When I opened a file I was working on in the older version, the font changed! I could not get the font I used originally to work. I trashed Inkscape-16573-i386.dmg and went back to Inkscape-0.45.1-2-UNIVERSAL.dmg, but no luck, I opened another finished file, and same thing, that one font disappeared! Can anyone help? And how do you add new fonts to Inkscape in Mac OSX? thanks

This does sound strange, am I right in understanding that it's only that one font that has disappeared from your font list in Inkscape?

I don't know much about the internals of Inkscape, so this is only a guess, but it seems perhaps more likley that font has been deleted from your system or moved.

Was this all on the same computer? If you use a font on one computer that isn't installed on another, Inkscape will just display the default font when it can't find it.

Still don't know why the font worked at first, and not any more.

I'm having a similar problem. It's not that the fonts worked and then don't, they have never worked and I didn't realise until I really wanted to use a particular one.

The situation is,
Inkscape 0.46
Mac OS X 10.4.11
Fonts are installed under my user library (the system fonts show up fine)

I just can't use my user fonts with Inkscape. I've tried reinstalling them. Deleting all the Inkscape caches, effectively reinstalling it.
The FAQ says the 'Inkscape not seeing fonts on Mac' problem is solved in 0.46, but I don't know how. It seems very silly to me that Inkscape wouldn't be able to see user fonts, since that's the default place OS X installs new fonts.

Please help. This is driving me nuts!

Does anyone else have fonts in their User directory that Inkscape isn't seeing?

Unfortunately there aren't many Mac users on this forum and this is also is not a support forum for software issues--so this reduces your chance of getting a solution here.

Check for reports of your problem on the Launchpad site. If you think it's a bug you can log it there. Alternatively you might like to try asking the developers on the developers mailing list.

There were so many options (forum, launchpad, mailing list) I had no idea which one to go with and since they say in the FAQ that the problem is fixed I figured I was doing something wrong. I'll try the mailing list.

I did find the answer on the launchpad (I had trouble searching the first time)
For some reason it's just not written into the program as a font directory and hopefully it will be next time, in the meantime I've added it in.
