Moving a gradient filled object loses its gradient fill

Postby Brent G » Tue Oct 25, 2011 1:37 am

I'm new to Inkscape so maybe I'm missing something. (I'm an old Corel Draw user)
If I fill a rectangle with a gradient (with Fill & Stroke panel or Gradient tool), it looks fine. If I then use the Select tool and move the object to a different location of the page, the gradient starts to disappear. It appears the gradient fill is anchored to that spot of the page and not to the object. So moving the object's location on the page will damage the fill.

Is there a solution to this vexing problem?

TIA
Brent

Welcome Brent!

Yes :D With the Selection tool engaged, look on the tool control bar, and all the way to the right. There are 4 similar looking buttons, and it is one of those. Hover the mouse and wait a moment for the tool tip to pop up, and you can see which one to click.
