Cartoon penguin

Postby Foomandoonian » Thu Jan 08, 2009 11:32 pm

I've spent yesterday evening working on a cartoon penguin in Inkscape. I'll release this with a liberal Creative Commons licence and as an SVG when I'm sure I'm happy with it.

I've also attached my work in progress for those who may be curious:

Any constructive criticism is welcomed. :D

Yeah, you know I've grown a little tired of all the cartoon penguins I see on the internet lately. But this one's really cute. I like it!

Just one comment, if I may. The little spikey swatch of...fur, hair?? on top of head -- somewhere between the 1st stage (blue, no feet) and current version, the spike got rounded. I think I like it sharp better. But either way, I still like this. I guess it's little like a baby cartoon penguin isn't it?

Anyway, very nice cartoon :D

Thanks Brynn.

You're right, the spike did take on a rounded tip when I added the black outlines. I'm not entirely happy with this myself, but it's the nature of the stroke. If the outline was spikey, the spike would be really long.

You make a good point though. I will see if I can improve this before I call it finished :)

Thanks!
